What do you specialize in?
Marla Maxwell, is the owner and founder of Trucker to Trucker Solitons, she has over a decade of expertise in the transportation industry. Marla is even a driver herself! We specialize in all areas of the transportation industry from safe driving, driver education, trucking authority filling, business fillings, dispatching, driver recruiting to just name a few.
How long does it take to get authority ?
It takes a minimum of five to seven weeks to complete the state and federal approval process. USDOT and FMCSA have very detailed guidelines and rules for approving trucking authority. Trust us with your trucking authority filling and we'll take away the uncertainties, simple as that.
What are MC and DOT numbers?
Federal Motor Carrier Safety administration (FMCSA) issues your MC number which allows you to cross state lines moving freight in a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV). The Department of Transportation (DOT) issues your DOT number which is used to track your trucking business. This number is also used to track your safety rating and registers your drivers and trucks with the FMCSA.
Who is Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)?
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulates the trucking industry in the United States. FMCSA roles and purpose is to reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities involving large trucks and buses. FMCSA creates rules and regulations that carriers and CMV drivers must adhere to when operating a CMV.
WHO is U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)?
Department of Transportation enforces the rules and regulations FMCSA sets. DOT is responsible for doing the foot work, inspecting CMV's, issuing violations, citation, and fines to those who are non complaint. DOT ensures that a carrier or a driver are following the FMCSA guidelines.
What Kind of freight can be hauled with your trucking authority?
Once you obtain your trucking authority you are able to haul freight of all kinds. Some freight requires endorsements and special licensing to haul legally and safety. An example would be hazardous freight, to haul the driver of the CMV must have a HAZMAT endorsement.
Do you need a Commercial Driver License to obtain Trucking Authority?
No. You do not have to yourself have a CDL to start a trucking company or obtain trucking authority. However, the driver you hire to drive your CMV does have to have a commercial driver license to be hired, haul freight and be employed as professional driver.
